We call for debt cancellation because the debt is illegitimate and immoral. We not seeking acts of charity but demanding justice and reparations. Raising funds for debt relief is intended in this context to bail out creditors and not the people.

Participants from different countries, initiatives and platforms* once again reaffirmed our conviction that the goal of the campaign is to achieve the annulment of foreign debt as a first step toward a definite and full Jubilee, as inspired by the biblical text of Leviticus 25.
