Summit Objectives
To bring together debt campaigns, social movements, grassroots organizations and other groups in the South to build a perspective for the debt campaign that is driven by and responds to the ongoing political, social, ecological and gender struggles;
To unite on and advance debt campaign strategies that encompass national and international dimensions and address the roots, manifestations and consequences of the debt problem.
Expected Outcome:
Unity around a clear vision for a debt free millennium;
Unity around critiques of current debt initiatives
Unity around a common platform and strategy that addresses our governments in the South (aside from addressing and engaging creditors, international financial institutions & multulateral organizations)
Work out appropriate organizational mechanisms for coordinating the campaign and Jubilee South activities.
